Buddha Gautama, Buddha Maitreya
from a Buddha School brochure 05 April 2000 The Buddha School to be held in the New Himalaya Retreat in the year 2000 is the first offering of what will be an annual school. The Buddha School has been inspired by the love we all have for the Lord Gautama Buddha and all Buddhas in existence. So many incarnations lived in the Light of Buddha's Teachings have made us long for a school that is held in His Presence, in His Spirit, and in the Spirit of the Buddhas who preceded Him, those who are with Him now, and those who will succeed Him. The two cosmic Avatars, Buddha and Christ, brought forth the Teachings which have had immense effect upon the reasoning mind of humanity and the developing heart of humanity. In this school, The Theosophical Fellowship wishes to honour the Buddha of the Earth, who is not only the Buddha, but also assistant to the Lord Sanat Kumara, the One who has become acting Lord of the World until the Lord Maitreya takes on that office in the future. Mention the name of Gautama Buddha, and the word 'wisdom' springs to your mind, and not only wisdom, but love and light of such a nature that nourishes the whole of the Earth. The Lord Gautama now works side by side with His Brother, the Lord Maitreya, and Their combined love, both for each other and for humanity, bestows the radiance within and around the Earth which we see with our inner eye when we behold the Earth in meditations or in higher consciousness. Only the pure heart and the enlightened mind can comprehend the sacrifice these two Masters have given time and time again for the evolution of the Earth to progress; and right now at this very time, we feel the effects even unto the physical level, for many people who have been searching are now finding their spiritual 'home place'. Buddhism attracts many who look there to find their inner peace, their purpose in life, and who look to the Buddha to find the answers to their questions. Few know the Lord Maitreya, for He appeared in Jesus, and to Him, many do respond. However, a great number of all seekers find their abode in Buddha, for His golden light they feel is warming and comforting them. The Path of Christ we all have to walk on if we wish to follow in His footsteps, but fewer people seek Him out of a lack of understanding of what Christ is and what He does for the Earth. Buddhism teaches the seeker to 'empty' the mind to feel compassion with all living, to practice harmlessness, and much more. In reality, all religions have the same purpose of uniting the personal self with the God self. They just go about it in a variation of ways, but all leading to the same result: unification and oneness with God. In this school, the Fellowship tries, through energy and lectures, to give an understanding of the Buddha as wisdom, compassion, joy, meditation, love, discipline, light, holiness, Teacher, and pure being.
